Monocrystalline Silicon Modules
Monocrystalline silicon modules are among the most efficient types of solar panels. These solar cells use silicon cut from high purity single crystal rods into 0.2 to 0.4 mm thick discs or wafers. The silicon is then processed into individual cells that are ultimately wired together into a solar panel. Monocrystalline solar panels have the highest output per cell area, making the most use of available roof space. They also perform better in high temperature or low light conditions when compared to multicrystalline or thin film modules.

Multicrystalline Silicon Modules
Multicrystalline silicon modules, also known as “polycrystalline” silicon modules, are manufactured from a block of silicon that is produced in clusters (unlike the single rod used in the monocrystalline process). They have a shattered-glass appearance. Although these modules are slightly less efficient than single crystal cells, they are also less expensive to produce. |
